STE holds Pinning Ceremony (1st Sem)
To welcome the new set of practice teachers for the school year 2023-2024, Liceo de Cagayan University – School of Teacher Education (STE) recently held its Pinning Ceremony last September 20, 2023 at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR), RNP Campus.
The program revolved around this year’s theme, “Igniting Brilliance: Shaping the Nation through Quality Teaching Immersion”. Dr. Joan B. Gallaron, the OIC-Dean of the STE, gave her opening message and strikingly pointed out to the thirteen officially pinned practice teachers that “This ceremony is more than just a pinning; it is a pledge, a commitment to uphold the highest standards of excellence, empathy, and innovation in teaching. It is a call to action, a vocation to go forth and illuminate the world with your wisdom.”
Moreover, the affair was graced by an STE alumna and a Licean faculty member, Ms. Alissandra Cabasagan, the guest speaker. She underscored the importance of keeping the passion burning for this noble profession.
As an important preparatory stage prior to the internship proper, Dr. Elvy Q. Malabo, Practice Teaching Supervisor, spearheaded the general orientation to all parents and the practice teachers as they embark on the world of teaching profession.
The ceremony was concluded with a community song led by the practice teachers.

STE holds Pinning Ceremony (2nd Sem)
“Quality pre-service teacher education is a key actor in quality Philippine education.” This is stipulated in the CHED Memorandum Order No. 30 series of 2004 known as the Revised Policies and Standards for Undergraduate Teacher Education Curriculum.
In response to this important function and responsibility, Liceo de Cagayan University (Liceo U) - School of Teacher Education (STE) paid tribute to the forty-seven (47) practice teachers from various education programs who have been officially pinned after having completed the academic requirements.
With the theme “Upscaling Pre-Service Training towards Quality In-Service Teaching”, the two-part Pinning Ceremony was successfully concluded on February 26, 2024 at the Rodolfo Neri Pelaez Campus Audio-Visual Room. This was headed by the STE Dean, Dr. Ma. Fe D. Opina.
The first part of the ceremony was graced by the guest speaker, Ms. Judilyn A. Lumajang, Top 6, Licensure Examination for Teachers 2023 and a Summa Cum Laude alumna of the Liceo U - STE. Ms. Lumajang, now a faculty member of the Liceo U Grade School Department, shared inspiring words with this year’s batch of practice teachers. On the other hand, words of encouragement were delivered by one of the practice teachers’ parents, Mrs. Susan C. Corvera, who spoke on behalf of all the parents present in the ceremony.
The second part of the ceremony was a general orientation to all the practice teachers and the parents given by Dr. Elvy Q. Malabo, Chairperson of the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECE) and Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNED).
The program was concluded with a community song led by the practice teachers who were then endorsed and deployed to the Junior High School and Grade School Departments for their teaching internship. They are supervised by the Practice Teaching Supervisors, namely Dr. Joan B. Gallaron (Bachelor of Secondary Education), Dr. Elvy Q. Malabo (BSNED, BECE), and Mrs. Girlie G. Acero (Bachelor of Physical Education).Adelante, future teachers!
