Folk Dance Competition (Foundation Days)

National Arts Month, concluded with a Folk Dance Competition by: Jasmine Galagnara, BSEd-English 4 In a showcase of grace, rhythm, and cultural pride, the Liceo Folk Dance Competition Grand Finale Round took the spotlight on February 29, 2024 at the Liceo Civic Center. This cultural event is a culminating activity in line with the National Arts Month celebration spearheaded by the Liceo Office of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the School of Teacher Education. After the elimination round held on February 19 at the Paseo del Rio Campus with thirty (30) competing teams from different colleges, fifteen team qualifiers advanced to the grand final round. Dr. Ma. Fe D. Opina, the Dean of the School of Teacher Education, highlighted the significance of preserving and promoting Filipino culture in her inspiring opening remarks. After careful scrutiny, three contingents snatched the coveted top three winning places: Third Place: Class of EDUC 2A (Chavacano de Zamboanga) Second Place: Class of PHARMA 2C (Pantomina) First Place: Class of BPED 3 (Jota Bikolana) The Liceo Folk Dance Competition conveys a more significant meaning. It is an event for Liceans to embrace their culture. It is where our customs blend with modernity, seamlessly merging ancient cultures into new ones, thereby uniting the entire Liceo community.
