Bachelor of Science in Criminology‎

• Level II Re-Accredited Status by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA)

The BS Criminology program is a four-year course that is geared toward providing the community with professionally competent and morally upright graduates who can deliver efficient and effective services in public safety, law enforcement crime detection and investigation, crime prevention, custody and rehabilitation of offenders, and criminological research. It enables the graduate to acquire the skills, knowledge, character, and values needed to combat the country’s and global vital issues of criminality.


PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

    • • Apply the values of leadership, accountability, integrity, responsibility and commitment to service as law enforcement officers while serving their fellowmen, community and country.
    • • Manifest excellence in the application of concepts of crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime detection, correctional administration and criminal justice.
    • • Conduct researches related to the nature, causes, treatment and punishment of criminal behavior and the execution of the significant role of criminal justice agencies in responding to crime, treatment of criminals and victims.
    • • Exhibits high ethical behavior as well social and professional responsibility in the exercise and practice of criminology profession.
    • • Conduct criminological research on crimes, crime causation, victims, and offenders to include deviant behavior,
    • • Internalize the concepts of human rights and victim’s welfare,
    • • Demonstrate competence and broad understanding in law enforcement administration, public safety and criminal justice;
    • • Utilize criminalistics or forensic science in the investigation and detection of crime;
    • • Apply the principles and jurisprudence of criminal law, evidence, and criminal procedure;
    • • Ensure offenders’ welfare and development for their re-integration to the community.
    • • Engage in lifelong learning and understand the need to keep abreast with the developments in the field of practice.
    • • Communicate effectively.
    • • Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
    • • Practice professional, social and ethical attitudes, values, and responsibilities.
    • • Appreciate and value “Filipino historical and cultural heritage” and uphold constitutional and statutory guarantees.

Refresher Course

This program was developed in response to the requirement of the Philippine Criminology Profession Act of 2018 that graduates of BS Criminology who failed the Licensure Examination for Criminologists (LEC) five times are required to attend a refresher course in criminology.


    • • The program is intended to serve as the basis for an intensified review to strengthen the performance of Criminology graduates in the Licensure Examination through the completion of refresher courses supported by a series of review lectures and comprehensive examinations. It is applicable to all graduates of BS Criminology under CMO No. 21 series of 2005 or earlier CHED issued Policies, Standards, and Guidelines referring to Criminology Program.
