Liceo U Hosts Regional Workshop on Intellectual Patenting
Supporting research and development activities to sustain economic development and social progress, Liceo de Cagayan University hosted on October 12, 2022, a workshop on “Prior Art Search Drafting.” This capacity-building activity of the DOST-Region X and Northern Mindanao Consortium for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (NorMinCIEERD), in which Liceo U is a member-institution, was the second episode of the “Fostering Innovation for New Discoveries through IP (iFIND) Series.
Aimed at guiding researchers in making their prior art search reports for their R&D projects, the workshop was conducted in a hybrid setup. Forty researchers from private institutions and SUCs in Northern Mindanao and 25 faculty researchers from Liceo U participated in the online platform and in-person platform, respectively.
Engr. Emmanuel M. Mendoza, Intellectual Property Rights Specialist of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL), virtually discussed intellectual property and patent search and facilitated the patent search draft workshop, which outputs were critiqued by the participants themselves. Present during the in-person workshop was Engr. John Paul C. Yu, an IPR Specialist of IPOPHL Northern Mindanao, who gave his insights and expressed his commitment to help Liceo U researchers patent their creative and scholarly works.
Dr. Ma. Florecilla C. Cinches (VP for Research, Extension, Planning, and Innovation) virtually delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Maria Felicitas M. Mamauag (Director of the Office of the University Research and Coordination) gave the closing remarks.
