DR. T. TUMAPON HONORED AS PIONEER MEMBER OF TEACHER EDUCATION COUNCIL

The Liceo community proudly congratulates Dr. Teresita T. Tumapon for her well-deserved recognition as a pioneering member of the Teacher Education Council (TEC). Dr. Tumapon, who holds the position of Consultant for Internationalization and External Affairs of Liceo de Cagayan University, has consistently made impactful contributions to education in the country.

Dr. Tumapon received the recognition during the 9th National Convention of the Centers of Excellence (COEs) and Centers of Development (CODs) for Teacher Education. Marking the 30th Anniversary of the TEC, the event took place in Cebu City on May 29, 2024, and was graced by Philippine Vice President and former Education Secretary Sara Duterte.

The recognition highlights Dr. Tumapon’s longstanding commitment to advancing quality education in the country. Appointed by the three former presidents – Fidel Ramos, Joseph Estrada, and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, she served the TEC for nine years. Founded in 1994 through Republic Act 7784, the TEC is instrumental in linking the Department of Education (DepEd), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to elevate teacher and educational leader standards.

In her current roles as a consultant for the Internationalization Office and as a professorial lecturer of Liceo de Cagayan University, Dr. Tumapon continues to influence the educational landscape in the Philippines.

Congratulations, Dr. Tess, for this prestigious recognition! Your exceptional contributions to the academic community will remain a source of pride and inspiration for all.
