LICEO U HOSTS GMA MASTERCLASS TO EMPOWER VOTERS FOR ELECTION 2025

Liceo de Cagayan University hosted the GMA Masterclass: Eleksyon 2025 Dapat Totoo Series last Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Liceo Civic Center. The event, part of GMA Network’s efforts to combat misinformation in the lead-up to the 2025 midterm elections, reinforced the university’s commitment to fostering informed and responsible citizens.

As one of GMA’s esteemed academic partners for #Eleksyon2025, Liceo U welcomed students, faculty, and participants to an engaging program featuring insights from top GMA Integrated News personalities. Renowned journalists Tina Panganiban-Perez, Lou Albano, and Ted Ortiz shared their expertise in navigating the challenges of the digital landscape. Ortiz, in particular, explained, "Social media algorithms are like a buffet where people only consume what aligns with their preferences, which shapes their perceptions and decisions."

Meanwhile, sports analyst Martin "Coach Hammer" Antonio inspired the audience with his philosophy of making sound choices, both in life and at the ballot box. He urged voters, saying, "Demand excellence from your candidates. Choose those who show integrity and capability."

Oliver Victor Amoroso, Senior Vice President and Head of GMA Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy, emphasized the importance of truth and vigilance in the electoral process, stating, "It is our right to choose our leaders, and we must remain vigilant in making the right decisions." Dr. Denise O. Orong, Liceo U’s Chief Operating Officer, also joined the program, reaffirming the university’s dedication to promoting critical thinking among its students.

Adding a touch of entertainment to the educational experience, The Clash Season 4 Grand Champion Mariane Osabel delivered a stunning performance, while Sparkle artist Migs Almendras hosted the event with energy and charm.

This collaboration marked the third stop of the series’ Mindanao leg, solidifying Liceo de Cagayan University’s role in empowering the next generation of voters to uphold truth and integrity in the democratic process.
