LICEO U, DINAGAT ISLAND GOV’T FORGE PARTNERSHIP FOR MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

In a significant step toward improving healthcare access and education, the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands has partnered with Liceo de Cagayan University through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for a Medical Scholarship Program. The formal ceremony, held at the University’s Old Board Room, marks a shared commitment to supporting aspiring doctors from the province.

The agreement provides financial assistance to deserving students from Dinagat Islands pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree at Liceo U’s College of Medicine. This initiative aims to address the province’s shortage of medical professionals and strengthen its healthcare system by equipping future physicians with quality education and training.

Present at the MOA signing were key representatives from both institutions, including Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. of Dinagat Islands and Dr. Alain Marc P. Golez, President of Liceo de Cagayan University. Also in attendance were members of the provincial government’s scholarship committee, university administrators, and the dean of the College of Medicine.

Governor Demerey expressed his gratitude to Liceo U for welcoming scholars from Dinagat Islands, emphasizing the transformative power of education. Dr. Golez, in turn, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence and community service.

Under the agreement, selected scholars will receive tuition assistance and other educational support throughout their medical studies. In return, they are expected to serve in Dinagat Islands’ healthcare facilities after earning their degrees, ensuring the province directly benefits from their expertise.

This collaboration marks a milestone in strengthening the province’s medical sector and offers a beacon of hope for aspiring doctors. Through this initiative, the local government and Liceo U reinforce their shared vision of advancing education and healthcare for a better, healthier future.
