LICEO U CELEBRATES RADTECH DAY WITH TREE-GROWING ACTIVITY FOR RIVER REHABILITATION
In celebration of RadTech Day, Liceo de Cagayan University conducted a tree-growing activity along the Cagayan de Oro River in Barangay Balulang. Organized by the Office of Extension and Service Learning (OESL) and Safer River, Life Saver Foundation Inc., in partnership with Barangay Balulang, the event saw active participation from the College of Radiologic Technology, College of Information Technology, and the Graduate Studies Department of the School of Business, Management, and Accountancy.
The initiative aimed to aid in the rehabilitation of the river, combating erosion and improving water quality by planting Bamboo and Lambago trees along the riverbank. Dr. Kimberly B. Alvarez emphasized that the activity was not just about planting trees, but also about fostering a greener, healthier future.
Faculty members, like Mr. Kyle Czepano Dacalos, noted the educational value of the event, highlighting its role in teaching students the importance of environmental responsibility. The tree-planting initiative exemplified the power of collaboration between the university and the community in addressing environmental challenges.
This successful activity not only contributed to the environmental health of Cagayan de Oro but also strengthened the university's commitment to sustainability, proving that collective action can create lasting, positive change for the environment and the community.
