Liceo Educator Represents PH in World’s Largest German Teachers’ Conference
Jasmin
C. Lagumbay, a Junior High School teacher from Liceo de Cagayan University, was
among the selected Filipino delegates who represented the Philippines at the
International Conference of German Teachers (IDT) 2025, held in Lübeck,
Germany, from July 28 to August 1.
IDT,
the world’s largest gathering of German language educators, convened hundreds
of teachers, researchers, and education advocates from across the globe. This
year’s conference carried the theme “Vielfalt wagen – mit Deutsch” (Daring
Diversity – with German), highlighting the value of inclusive and
forward-thinking approaches to teaching the German language.
Lagumbay
was one of the Goethe-Institut Philippines’ full scholarship recipients,
selected based on her proficiency in the German language (B2 level or higher),
active teaching role in an institution, and contributions to professional
development in the field. The scholarship covered participation costs of up to
€2,500, including travel, accommodation, and conference fees.
The
Philippine delegation was composed of scholarship holders and staff of the
Goethe-Institut Philippines, including Jhed Arnaldo-Baltazar Diez, Jens
Hericks, Jasmin Lagumbay, Aleksandra Rhyzkova, Barbara Pauli, and Adam Agustin.
Together, they took part in workshops, lectures, and academic exchanges,
contributing to and learning from global discourses on language pedagogy and
educational innovation.
Lagumbay’s
participation underscored Liceo de Cagayan University’s commitment to global
engagement and excellence in language education. Her involvement in IDT 2025
reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to empower educators with
international perspectives and to nurture world-class teaching practices within
its academic community.
